Pay What You Can Soup & Bread

This is where it all began! When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, Cassidy was in school and planning to head to Alaska in the Summer for a job cooking at a backcountry lodge. Suddenly her job was no longer, and she was left with a lot of time, and a feeling of needing to do something to address all the fear she felt and was witnessing in the world.

So, Pay-What-You-Can Soup and Bread was born. What started as a service for her close neighbors, has expanded to feeding 50 people a week, homemade, nourishing soups, salads and sourdough bread. On any given week, about a third to half of those fed are in need of nourishment, and the cost of feeding them is fully covered by other neighbors!

This program works because neighbors are helping neighbors! Cassidy is excited to continue to offer this service for anyone living in Albuquerque, into the future.

Important, the value of one soup and bread meal is about $10, but what makes this work is if some community members can pay more for others that cannot pay at all.

***I will never turn away someone who cannot pay. I want everyone to get a warm meal and nourishment no matter their financial situation.***

Pay-What-You-Can Soup and Bread works because neighbors are helping neighbors!

We are in this together.
